ProX Opens Doors
Do whatever it takes to prepare your teen
Blog by Chennedy Johnson
ProX is a great internship opportunity for many teens. It helps prepare teens for future enterprise and the real world. It helps with skills such as entrepreneurship, empathy, problem solving, preparation and more. With this opportunity the ProX team works in a way that teens will feel comfortable and still have a fun summer.
Every Monday the interns have PD, which stands for professional development. This PD teaches the interns Real World Skills that they can also incorporate into their work space throughout the rest of the week. Each week when they learn something new, they also get sent home with one assignment to complete by the end of the week. Our first PD they learned about their agilities so the interns can know a little bit about one another and apply it to their decisions on their specific jobs. With that, they had an assignment focusing on the 5 W’s, what, when , where, why, and who. In the second PD meeting they went more in depth on empathy skills when it comes to problem discovery and public speaking. This included body language when public speaking, building confidence in their agilities and working as a team to communicate.
With the skills they have learned this week from PD, many interns are incorporating it into their work for the rest of the week. So far they have created different ways to speak comfortably such as having many interns being interviewed on the spot by the Social Media Hype team. The video the social media team is working on is a documentary created to let individuals use their voice to explain the many great things that involve ProX.
Other skills the interns used this week were collecting information and using that to their advantage. The ProX Marketing team created survey’s to understand teens more with questions asking what social media platforms they use, what content draws their attention and things they are comfortable with. This helps the interns on that team when it comes to uploading content that interns can relate to. Another way these kids are getting comfortable with their new skills is by public speaking. There are plenty of ways to tell if someone is a comfortable public speaker, such as body language, preparation, going in depth, asking questions and also showing empathy towards the audience they are speaking to. So far these skills have helped interns with their comfort level in communication, collaboration and a majority of what they will need in the real world.
Most of the employers at ProX are wanting to helps interns with their individuality, to be in touch and be at comfort with themselves first before working with groups.
Many teens don’t find this opportunity so it is your missions to share this experience with others. Teens take away so much knowledge from the ProX experience with the weekly meeting and real-world experience. Being involved with ProX will enhance the ProX foundation and make it a better place for future interns.
