About Us

Launched in 2021 by a coalition of 14 local community organizations, ProX began as a pilot to create a shared front door for summer internships and client-connected projects. With support from the DeBruce Foundation and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, this community-driven effort has grown into Real World Initiatives—a formally established 501(c)(3) affiliate that ensures Kansas City students will continue to access high-quality, real-world learning experiences for years to come.

The ProX program provides accessible, meaningful work experiences that empower students and support local employers. Interns gain essential work-ready skills, build social capital, and earn Market Value Assets (MVAs), while growing the confidence needed for future education and career success. By bringing together students, mentors, and community partners, ProX is building a stronger, more prepared workforce for Kansas City.

Mission

ProX provides high school students with equitable access to real-world opportunities, empowering them to develop essential skills and connections for success in education and the workforce, while fostering meaningful partnerships with employers and the community to drive lasting impact.

A future where all high school students are equipped with transformative real-world experiences, empowering them to succeed in careers and education, and strengthening the regional talent pipeline.

Vision

Work-Ready Skill Development

We equip ProX interns with the work-ready skills & mindsets they need to thrive in their internships.

By helping interns build & practice these skills through our coaching model & weekly professional development sessions, we are ensuring they are ready for the future of work!
