Week 5
Welcome to Week 5 of your ProX internship experience!
You have made it to the final week of the summer program. This week is a chance to reflect on your growth, celebrate your accomplishments, and finish strong as you wrap up your internship experience.
Take time to review this week’s content and continue showing up with confidence and professionalism — we are proud of everything you have accomplished this summer.
Week 5: Leadership
Strong leadership requires the ability to positively influence those around you. Sometimes leadership looks like stepping forward with an idea, while other times it means listening well, staying dependable, or helping move a team toward a shared goal.
Within work-ready skill development, leadership becomes the master skill by bringing together communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and self-awareness to help you grow into a confident and capable professional.

Prep for Ask A Professional
Every week, you’ll meet incredible professionals who’ve carved their own paths—through creativity, community, grit, and hustle. This is your chance to hear how they got there and to ask them the questions that matter most to you.
During morning coaching, you’ll write a question you want to ask—this could be about their journey, advice they have, or insights on what they wish they knew when they were in your shoes. A few of you will be picked to ask your questions live during the session. So dig deep, get curious, and ask away.

Week 5: Breakout Sessions
Money Moves with CommunityAmerica Credit Union
Led by Prentiss Earl III, CommunityAmerica Credit Union
Get ready—Monday’s bringing the heat. This session isn’t your typical lecture on finances. Prentiss Earl III is back with a fast-paced trivia game that’ll help you level up your credit knowledge, understand smart investing, and boost your money mindset.
Prentiss has already helped 3,000+ young people in KC build real-world financial confidence—and now it’s your turn. With 15+ years in education and innovation, he knows how to turn complex money topics into real-life lessons that actually make sense.
💡 Expect games. Surprises. And some real talk about credit, savings, and investing. You’ll leave with a stronger grip on your financial future—and maybe even a prize or two.
Let’s get that bag. See you Monday.
Build Your Network with Dr. Mako Miller
Director, Kansas City College and Career Attainment Network (KCCAN)
Let’s talk LinkedIn—because your network can shape your future. In this session, Dr. Mako Miller will break down how to use LinkedIn as a communication tool as a young professional.
With 20+ years of experience in college access, advising, and career development, Dr. Miller knows what it takes to stand out and build a path that works for you. She’s worked at K-State, MCC, UMKC, and Kauffman Scholars, and now leads a regional effort to increase college and career success across Kansas City.
A proud first-gen college grad and KC leader, Dr. Miller is all about helping students build confidence and connections. You’ll walk away knowing how to use LinkedIn as more than just a profile—it’s your personal hype tool, and it’s time to make it work for you.
👥 Bring your questions. Bring your curiosity. Let’s build your digital handshake.
Song Of The Week
This week is all about communication—how you share ideas and how well you listen.
Charles Wright said it best: “Express yourself!”
Good communication isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being clear, honest, and real.
Whether you're speaking up at your internship or listening to feedback, your voice matters. So this week, let the song remind you to show up, speak your truth, and connect with others.
